Gym & Fitness
The gym is equipped with a wide range of fitness machines and free weights. The treadmills, cross trainers, rowers and exercise bikes are Matrix branded equipment. We also have a selection of Matrix resistance machines for upper body and lower body training. For those who enjoy lifting we have a power rack and a full set of Olympic free weights. Dumbbells, stability and exercise balls complete the range of fitness equipment that is designed to help you succeed in achieving your fitness goals.
On joining the gym you will receive a free induction. This includes the chance to have a personalised 6 week programme to follow which is specifically designed to help you achieve your fitness goals. Every 6 weeks your programme will be updated to ensure you are getting the most out of your gym membership.

This class employs a range of step, body weight and weight-based exercises with an aim to improve cardiovascular and muscular endurance exercise ability. Although this class holds a certain intensity, it can be adapted to all fitness levels.

PERSONAL TRAINER INFORMATION
James is our gym and fitness class instructor at Huddersfield Lawn Tennis and Squash Club. James is a qualified personal trainer who has his Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification and Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training. He is currently working towards his Level 4 qualification in Nutrition.
James has worked in a number of gyms over the years and has a real passion for fitness, having been training himself for a number of years too. James is particularly interested in resistance training. Although he has been involved in a number of different sports from an early age. James aims to bring out the best in people and motivate them to reach their goals. He believes exercise should be fun and will cater the training towards the individual.
- James has a Labrador called Sophie who is always hungry!
- As well as education in the fitness sphere, James also holds a Master’s degree in Law from Northumbria University.
